In the house of mstar
Flat Frodo goes East to The Golden Triangle and Louisiana

As Flat Frodo prepared for his journey, many meetings took place within the House Of mstar. There was much talk of the perils before them; but such was the virtue of the fair lands of Texas and that of Springdale, where the House Of mstar lay, soon the fears of the lands of the “Crackpots of Hollyweird” was lifted from Frodo’s mind. He lept from his bed the next morning, refreshed and ready for breakfast.
Those, with the household, who had once walked in those dark lands with it’s crackpots, knew that Master Flat did not fully understand the nature of what lay ahead, and so a council of the wise was called.
During the Council Of mstar there was much discussion, and at last a decision was made. It was agreed that Frodo was not ready for that long road yet. He was to go towards danger; but not too rashly, nor too straight. The advise of the Council was to make for the lands of the “Golden Triangle” that bordered on the western edge of what is known as Louisiana.
Here, all agreed, Flat Frodo would be cheered and strengthen for his journey by the fabled music and the lore of those parts, not to mention a visit to the homes of the members of the mstar family that still lived there.
So arrangements were made to depart as soon as possible. They also made plans to visit Port Neches, Texas where the grandmother of the House of mstar dwelled; a great matriarch, who had lived within these borders for many ages, and still kept a mighty generous table, which was sure to bring refreshment to all.
The Ring Goes East
The next day dawned sunny and bright. It was as fine a day as one could wish for. So early, all within the household rose, had a hearty breakfast or two, and then jumped into the family carriage and set off on their journey.
Word had come to the company that a musical concert had been planned for that very evening in the lands of “The Golden Triangle,” It was to be held within the great halls of learning in Lamar University.
The fellowship’s spirits began to rise in anticipation! All were sure that such a celebration would surely lift Flat Frodo’s spirits and help him bear his burden. So they set off in high hopes, with much laughter and singing.
Later that day, the weary travelers arrived at the ancient Texas Live Oak that signaled that they had entered the “Land of The Mamanems”. Within this realm was the home of the great mstar Matriarch, Mamanem.
Flat Frodo slowly drew out “Sting”, as he felt “the slow-kindled courage of his race awaken”. His gaze had already locked upon the signs speaking peace to those entering these lands, yet boldly proclaiming the Banner of this fair, valiant country, and the determination of all who have chosen to stand and fight for her defense.
He also looked upon, with great sorrow, the faded, weathered, yellow ribbons, that spoke of the long hours of waiting for those love ones, those great warriors, who had left family, friends, and the comforts of their homes, thus willing to give up their lives to fight for the defense of Middle Earth.
All within the Fellowship commended his valor, but cautioned him to save his strength for the battles that lie ahead.
“These boarders are well protected,” they said.
“We have not come to the time of the great battle. This is a time of refreshment and rest. Perhaps, one day soon, you will see the great ships that carry these brave warriors to sea, and then on to the battle fields where they fight for the freedom of Middle Earth.”
“Perhaps we may, Mr. Frodo, perhaps we may.” The words echoed through his mind.
Master Flat Frodo agreed to the wisdom of the council and proceeded to the “House Of Mamanems” where he came into the presence of the family matriarch, Mamanem.
Flat Frodo once again unshielded “Sting” so that he might safely guard the passage of Mamanams and the fair Lady mstar to the carriage that waited to take them on into Beaumont, Texas.
The Ring goes back a bit into the West then East
Soon they arrived at Lamar University the site of the concert where the songs of joy and merriment of ministerial group, “Jars Of Clay” was to take place that evening.

It was a merry event and Flat Frodo was caught up in the Spirit of it all very quickly. Before the Fellowship was aware of it, Frodo was off to the merchandise table for t-shirts, pictures, and copies of the written words of the group’s wisdom and lore.
Weary from the day’s journey and much merry making, the company spent that night at a local inn, there within the boarders of Beaumont, Texas.
When they awoke the next morning, very much refreshed by a good night’s sleep, and a hearty breakfast or two, they began to venture out to look around.
Not far from the inn, they found other travelers that had passed the night nearby.

Today the Fellowship would journey on to lands that lay on the eastern portion of Texas and on into the western parts of the land of Louisiana. As they left, they passed the ruins of “Spindle top” and the “Gladys City Boomtown Museum.” Here, once dwelled the great cities of the Texas Oil Fields.
The company began to chant to Master Baggins the tale of “The Fall of Texas Crude Oil,” and how the oil wells had been dug too deeply, thus causing an oil shortage that awoke a Saudi Balrog, of the ancient world.
Flat Frodo shuddered and asked if we could move on.
The Fellowship readily agreed and within minutes arrived in the swamps of Louisiana, near the township of Vinton, where he was given a hearty welcome, a cup of Community House (Cajun) Coffee, and a tour of the nearby bogs.

After a bit of history of this fabled land, Master mstar leads Master Baggins on a tour of some of the places located in parts near Vinton where he once played music, and was a part of the Louisiana/Texas Blues/Rock scene during the stoned age of the ‘60’s.

“Within these ruins,” Master mstar recalled, “once named, ‘Lou Anne’s,’ great singers sang and played their instruments. They were the founders of a music that later spread over the whole wide world. It was a form of music called “Texas/Louisiana Rock/Rhythm and Blues”.
“Where are they now?” asked Frodo, staring in wonder, sweating and swatting mosquitoes.
“Why most are either dead from drug overdose or still playing in dark, dirty night clubs. Some became what is know today as, ‘Jesus People,’ also called, ‘Born Again Christians.’”
“Oh, so some died from smoking the wrong kind of pipeweed and adding, what did they call it, drugs?” asked Flat Frodo. “Then I think I will just stick to your Cajun coffee and old Toby. Can we leave now?”
“Absolutely,” they all answered, also sweating and swatting.
“We are being followed,” the Fellowship whispered, “and yes, we are near a nasty bog, see, but it is only a Louisiana Alligator, so you need not fear. They are good eatin’ so they say in these parts.”
After a very short nod while the Fellowship was running to the carriage, they agreed to return, and return they did.
The Ring Goes Back West Again on I-10 To Texas

Flat Frodo rejoices at “The Texas Welcome Center” located on the boarder lands of Orange, Texas. It is here that he receives in-depth instructions as to how not to “Mess with Texas”. Our little Flat Friend is in total agreement, and after taking these sacred vows, he is permitted to pass… into the Great State.
The Ring Goes To Port Arthur
Flat Frodo then entered “The Museum Of The Gulf Coast” located in Port Arthur, Texas. Upon the walls were murals celebrating the lives of the music and sports legends that originated from these lands. Among those featured were Janis Joplin, George Jones, Harry James, The Big Bopper, Johnny and Edgar Winters, ZZ Top, and many others.
“What happened to her, the lady, whose song that you sing?” he asked.
“She died,” answered Master mstar. “Just stick to Old Toby and tea. Get some rest Frodo.”
He then moved on to look upon the other murals enshrined within the halls.
“I don’t think they would hang out together,” answered Master mstar, “as their music would not be of the same taste. I think Gandalf would utter sounds like, “errrrrrr” in great protest. Let’s move along.”
Master mstar answered, “This murial tells the story of the Winter Brothers, known to all in these parts as Johnny and Edgar; great musicans of what we call rock and blues. In our culture they are known as Albinos. I know nothing of Silvan Elves in these parts, but such things could have happened.”
The Company now took their leave and returned to Port Neches, and back into the “Realm Of Mamanems”, where a splendid supper was laid out for all. Here Flat Frodo enjoyed the best of the Texas/Louisiana cuisine, Boudan, Seafood File Gumbo, and the fine wine of the south: iced tea.
